Mr. Shaw is an intellectual property attorney, providing intellectual property and business litigation, counseling and prosecution of patent and trademark applications. Mr. Shaw was admitted to the Texas State Bar in 1990, and has practiced in all areas of intellectual property matters, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, and the licensing of intellectual property. He has represented United States and foreign companies in patent infringement, trademark infringement and copyright infringement litigation and has provided counseling and opinions for owners of intellectual property rights.
Mr. Shaw has also served as litigation counsel in commercial disputes including securities litigation, class actions and derivative suits, claims under the Racketeer Influenced Corrupt Organizations Act ("RICO"), oil and gas litigation, environmental claims and regulatory compliance, contracts, and employment litigation. His practice has lead to appearances before the National Association of Securities Dealers ("NASD") and the Securities & Exchange Commission ("SEC"). He also acts as general counsel for clients providing counseling and litigation for intellectual property matters, employment, and general business strategy. Mr. Shaw graduated magna cum laude from Thomas Cooley Law School in 1989. He received a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from Texas A&M University in 1978, and practiced as an engineer with Schlumberger offshore services, Conoco, Inc., E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Firestone Tire & Rubber in the chemical and petroleum industry in refineries, petrochemical facilities, and oil and gas exploration companies.
Mr. Shaw is registered to practice before all Texas courts and the United States Patent and Trademark Office, the U.S. District Court for the Northern, Southern, Western and Eastern Districts of Texas, and U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
